Hydrocarbons on Titan (Saturn's largest moon), link to Al-Qaeda pending.

Actually, this is an interesting piece of news. If there are large quantities of simple organic compounds on Titan (which appears to be the case), there may be more complex organic compounds (eg. RNA, amino acids) present as well, and perhaps an insight into the formation of life on this planet.

    Video Games: "Evil?" or "Evil!"?

This, on the other hand, actually bothers me. Granted, video game companies could do a lot more to prevent younger, impressionable children from getting their hands on inappropriate video games. The current labelling system (with "E for Everyone" covering pretty much anything without blood) is pretty useless, poorly publicized and rarely enforced.

Nevertheless, to have video games shoulder most of the blame for Columbine or the incident in Tennessee where two kids shot up a number of cars and killed a nurse (Did I mention that the producers of GTA were sued for $246 million over that?) is pretty far-fetched. There's a long way between using 7 buttons and joystick to shoot human-shaped polygons and picking up a guns, loading and firing at real people.

There are those who put a lot of stock in this link, however. The oft-cited Craig Anderson has written a number of papers on the subject, and crusades for tighter control of video game content. One of his most famous papers is this paper (pdf) which links "violent video games" to "aggressive behaviour," though both of these measurements are fairly subjective. (For example, would you consider the Mario games violent?) In this paper, he links exposure of undergraduate students to violent video games to aggressive behaviour and poorer academics, among other things. (The question of which came first, the poor academics or the video games is another issue entirely.)

I'd be interested to see how these lawmakers feel about America's Army (the "official" game of the U.S. Army.)

Don't want to end too seriously, so "Go fuck yourself," and buy a t-shirt

So, on Waxy.org, they've come up with the Amazon.com Knee-Jerk Contrarian Game. The idea is to look up classic movies, books, and albums, and sort customer reviews by the lowest rating, thereby getting the people who hate the classics. For example, Abbey Road:
I heard the Beatles album "Rubber Soul", the one with their one hit "Norwegian Wood". That song was good and the other filler songs were...eh...(flipping my hand around like to say "ehhhh", you know?)...I always saw these guys as a one hit wonder. But someone said, "You gotta hear 'Abbey Road' by them." And, I was like. Okay. Apparently this band was an influence for great bands like Herman's Hermits and New Order and stuff, so, I thought, okay...if I can find it, i'"ll chekc it out. I found it. Checked it out. Uh...Ever heard of a word called "Porduction", lads? They...I don't know when one song ends and the other stops. They have different lead singers for every song. The songs have no thru line or melody to speak of. I see here that some people gave this thing 5 stars. Hello! What? There's a reason you never hear of these guys any more. They're probably all living in a shack trying to live on their little checks for "Norwegian" Wood.

So I figured, we've been watching bad movies. Why not do things the other way around. For example, here's a review of Glitter:
The movie was great on how mariah as bille searches for success. and finds. My favorite part of the movie is when Billie finaly finds it.her mother whom she's been searching for all those years. I wish that there would be a squiel to the movie. To find out how Billie and her mother are doing?

        and You Got Served
Yo, I holla'd at my boi to pop one of these bad bois for me the other day, and snap man, this is some hot s**t! The dancing is like WOAH! and the moves are insane. Yo, you better pick up this DVD right away, 'cause it's got the mad moves that are all up in your face son!
