- Hello Ed,
The Old Strathcona Business Association and the OS Foundation have the plans
for the building in our respective offices. The building was vetted several
times by the major community stakeholders and the heritage planners at the
City. The building meets all the requirements of the Strathcona Area
Redevelopment Plan (1999) and is being built to last for a long time. The
construction materials are steel framing with masonry and precast finishes.
The style is designed to fit the heritage character of the 1910-12 pioneer
era which is 5 to 12 years newer than the buildings that burned but meets
the style and height of the buildings further east and across the street.
There is one level of underground parking and the third floor is a partial
wrap that takes up about 1/3 of the footprint. As for uses, the only two
uses we have confirmed at this time are Chilis (at the back of the building
bordering the alleyway on 104 St.) and the coffee store on the corner. There
are seven spaces on the main level so we have no news of confirmed tenants
in the five other spaces. One of them is rumored to be a spa. The second and
third levels are not confirmed. The person who would know, of course, is
John Day, the owner of the project. Hope this helps.

- this is Raffi
I have a record of him from when I was a little one, if ever you want to hear more...
he looked much younger then, of course,
and his sidekick (whom I never understood where he fit in) was wearing the ever stylish white afro.

Relishing the cool of the brick wall against his back he coaxes a slow drag from his cigarette and idly watches people walking briskly down the sidewalk; couples disappear and reappear as they move between shadow and light. He ponders the moment as he holds the smoke in his lungs. The moths flutter in the taoist hum of golden streetlight like a million empty matchbooks falling from the sky. 'Is all of this just a beautiful manifestation of purely random chaos?' he wonders as the soothing wave of nicotine washes over him, 'or is this the beautiful chaos of a perfect order?'. He carefully exhales smoke, watching the blue-grey whisps linger timidly for a moment before finding the currents that carry them on towards destiny.
