um... did anyone ever stop to think that maybe they were just respecting the wishes of the victim and his family when it wasn't publicized? I don't know if that's true or not... but let's not suddenly jump to absurd conclusions of cover-ups and conspiracies.

It's just that the way it was played up and then dropped made me suspicious that the University was behind the media gag. Then again, who cares if the guy gets better and the people get caught because in the end it was a targetted attack and no one else was at risk... I guess that's part of what they were trying to get across. but it would still be nice to know that that was the actual truth.

Im not sure you can call it secrecy and censorship... its an issue of the state of our media and media hype. Im sure if you asked the police, they would give you some sort of press release or statement about the situation that the media never bothered to pick up on... and if no reporter follows up on the situation, then those questions won't be answered for the public. Maybe that guy didn't want any attention from the media, public, or university.
