- So, I've already sent an email out to most of you about this, but in case I miss anyone, Scott and I are planning to hold a birthday celebration on the night of Saturday July 17. We're starting at scholars pub at 8pm, then moving to suite 69 for 10pm. I can gurantee good times (like anytime when I'm drunk), so if you're interested, but have any questions, please feel free to call my cell at 5047701 anytime.
Also, Leo, I know you want to have a BBQ that night, but I doubt you want a tonne of Frat boys and TRU boys at your place, but I'll try to come a little early to your thing, then maybe anyone who wants can join up at the bars a little later?

- Hey Jere wanna go diving at Gods Pocket?
$1200 for 5 days, sometime in September 2005.
I'd like to go, there's a $300 deposit to secure a position as only 12 people can go.
And you can swim to your little fairy asses content!

Yes we are horrible, horrible, people....

- all I wanted to do was come on and bitch about what a long day it's been and how stupidly arrogant people on council can be... and how the SU renovations were crap: we now have water coming in through the cement ceiling above our offices, that used to be outside, but is now under the SUB stage study area... and most likely contains a small lake between the layers of ceiling and floor.
Bloody hell, I'm just so exhausted and frustrated. Our garden was destroyed by the hail, our offices are in turmoil with all the drip-catching, and someone wants to shut us down... and then I get criticized for something I thought was rather innocuous. Perhaps I'll chalk it up to a long day and be done with it. But I know this will all just continue.
Happy B-day Scott and Ed. Enjoy the druid.

- I wasn't trying to separate myself from everyone... overe the "non-ecology" issue Ed. Sorry if it sounded like that, it's just that my entire education has surrounded the issues that people were bringing forth, so I thought I'd say something. And instead of just trying to say it as me, and rely on whether or not you all think I'm a reliable (or credible) source of environmental information, I thought I'd mention that it came from my ecology classes. It wasn't meant as an elitest statement.
My personality had nothing to do with the information in that post. It was merely stating that because of some of the courses I've taken, I happen to have learned that Alberta is not a desert, nor that it has any true desert in it. I'm not trying to say I know more as a general rule, I defer issues relating to computers to those of you who have that knowledge, and thus with literary theory etc. The information I posted is taken as fact by all departments dealing with these issues on campus (Biology, Forestry, EAS, etc.) and the governments of Alberta, and Canada also use this information, as well as independent consultants, scientists and firms. This was not about superiority, just correct information.
Nor was I trying to insult anyone's intelligence by that statement about whether or not the map would be understandable, if you bothered to look at the link. It listed all the ecoregions of Alberta. Nowhere on the map does it say "none of this is desert" and I wasn't sure if people would interpret the map to mean anything relevant to them, as it does describe some regions with fairly odd classification names. (In the past, I have had trouble understanding some of the maps the government releases)
If I'm going to come out saying I'm superior and the rest of you are all stupid, then I'll say it in a straightforward manner (so don't try to twist this discussion so it says that). but, I would hope that most of you are my friends, or at least friendly, and no one who values their friendships ever throws relative intelligence and/or superiority in the mix. I'd like to think of us all as equals, or roughly equal... considering the vast ranges of knowledge and experience, and I do not see myself anywhere other than right in the mix with you all.
I hope that clarifies things, and if not, then I suppose it's nothing I can fix.

In the News
Ferris Bueller actor Jeffrey Jones was charged with failing to register as a sex offender. He pleaded no contest last year to having a fourteen-year-old boy pose for sexy photos. Interestingly, in every still from the Matthew Broderick film, he looks like a sex offender. Meanwhile, Colin Farrell will play the lover of a fourteen-year-old girl in his next movie and Nicole Kidman will play the lover of a ten-year-old boy in hers.
