- so... I get to read the SU web board as part of my work hours... this seems strange.
But... I guess Roman Kotovych was doing some research on ECOS... talking with Anand Sharma and Mike Hudema (because they're obviously the experts on ECOS) and asked them what ECOS was doing. His statement is thus: "I asked Anand and Mike what ECOS was up to, and they both said 'They're doing a lot, Roman.'" well, what were you expecting? I don't think i've seen Anand down here ever... even before I was working for ECOS... and Mike rarely, if ever, stops by... so what would they really know? Please, if ever any of you end up with untold power to decide the fate of things that other people depend upon and/or enjoy, consult with those who know (really know) what's going on before you make any kind of decision. Mind you, at least an interest is being generated.... it can only lead to more accurate information being made known later... much more in-depth than "they're doing a lot," wow.

- Hurray, my new computer works! kinda...
I still can't get the internet or sound working on it, nor does it like my floppy drive from my old computer.
Leo, what key(s) did you hit to access the bios setup on my computer? I can't seem to find it on my computer now, though I didn't have much time to look into it. Also, what was the name of that program you were talking about that can control temp, fan speed, etc?

- Also, for those of you who went to Napoleon Dynamite last night, Uncle Rico, a.k.a. Jon Gries has quite the storied career. One popular reference may be the driver of the illegal aliens (haha, so clever) in Men in Black. I, however, remember him in The Pretender (hey, it was a good show... sure, it was a thinly veiled ripoff of the Fugitive, but it had its moments!), as Broots, nervous computer/science/technology/nerd guy.
Oh, and Ed, I'd like to help you out with the dream wings correlation dealie, but I dream about chicken wings all the time...
Oh, and for Jere, Kip hasn't been in anything else. In fact the only previous work mentioned in IMDB for Aaron Ruell is as a still photographer.

- Further to the Ted Turner view on the media, when did Ted Turner move to the left-wing? Perhaps I was wrong, and he always was, but I've heard stuff from him recently which you wouldn't expect from most moderates in the states, let alone right-wing businessmen. From an interview with Charlie Rose:
- "History will look back and see this war in Iraq as the biggest debacle . . . as bad as (jokingly) the AOL Time-Warner merger."
- "The war in Iraq should be the last war ever fought."
- "We were smart enough to build refrigerators and internal combustion engines but we didn't notice because there weren't many of us. This has been magnified by the number of people in the world."
- "We're no longer living off the interest of this world, we're living off the capital."
Oh yeah, and if anyone is interested, Napoleon Dynamite at 7:15 at the Princess. We should meet there around 7.

Graffiti archaeology
This is pretty mindblowing: Graffiti archaeology. Cassidy Curtis, a brilliant artist and programmer, created a little Flash application that lets you view pieces of graffiti around San Francisco -- as they've evolved over time. He got a group of photographers to share their pictures taken of certain areas of graffiti, dating back years. Then he stitched them together into layered images: You can view a particular wall, then peel back each layer like an onion skin, showing the graffiti that existed before it. You can even zoom in if you want to look at something up close.
It's a lovely interface -- neatly evoking the idea of time passing in an urban environment.
