- Question:
Would any of you see Hero at a movie theater or would you rather wait until I can get the DVD from chinatown and see it at someones house?
Theater
pro: big picture, big sound, movie available right now
con: big price (even if westmount is cheaper)
DVD
Pro: cheap (for free, other then: the price of gas, the energy you would need to drive a car walk to the door and sit down and watch the movie, the energy needed to maintain your coporeal form)
Con: need to wait at least a few days maybe a week at the most for me to get the movie. (Unless Leo or Percy or Eric might have it... c'mon you have chinese parents, they buy ripped off DVD from chinatown.)
So let me know.

Ok, so that was lame, I just felt like share some cool news, and poking fun at alison at the same time. I've just finished all the prep-work for my Training tomorrow, so I'm feeling a little loopy.

ANYONE INTERESTED IN GOING TO SEE SARAH HARMER THIS FALL?
I really want to go see her, but it's always more fun if there's someone else there... and I won't feel like a total loser that way either! Plus she's playing at the Winspear...
so:
incredible acoustics + awesome Sarah Harmer = unbelievable show
and:
someone (or lots of someones) + alison + Sarah Harmer show at Winspear = good time had by all
Well, let me know... you know where to find me/get ahold of me

- okay, yeah Pete, I know you're buried a lot deeper right now that I am in all this orientation, beginning of the year stuff... but damn, what am I supposed to do? We don't have our pamphlets printed yet. I have to put together presentations for WOW, PIRGapalooza (I think) the Community Service Learning folks (shit, next week), our volunteer training (holy shit, never done before), and a conference... all in the next month (well really, um the next 33 days... so slightly more than a month, but still...) Plus all the other stuff I don't feel like listing.
Still I agree, Pete, you're in a deeper pile than me in a lot of respects. I hope MUGS takes off. I hope you find all the people you need to help run it (!) and I hope you don't go crazy doing it all!
Still, yeah, if y'all don't hear from me in a while, I'm not dead. I'm just working lots.

Oh yeah, and I love this headline: Pole walks to gold; Canadian 33rd. Even when the guy walks, we can't finish remotely close to him. (Yeah, I know, it's racewalking. It's still a great headline.)

- It's spelled w00t, Mr. Orientation. Who knows what crazy information first years are getting now?!...
Yeah, I said I'd keep you posted (still so funny!) on the message board situation. Still no word from the University on deletion of my account (though my supervisor was under the impression that the faculty of science allows you to keep it.) I've finished writing the PHP and translating the archives to XML (at least, for now. Improvements can be made, but they can be made much more easily now that the data is separate from the representation information (if all of the last sentence plus brackets seem like gibberish to you, don't worry. I barely understand me these mornings...))
All I need now is a host. I've been looking and the cheapest one that gives me what I want is TextDrive, which is $5 a month (I assume US dollars), via PayPal, excluding domain registration. The other one I'm looking at that I've heard good things about is Lunarpages. Which works out to (if I prepay for a year, including domain registration) $110.35 US ($145 Canadian). Finally there's Micfo, whose one year is $91.35 US ($120 Canadian).
I'll be sure to keep you updated. If you want to see the "new look" (it's not really that new; one slight modification that may not stay), it's sometimes up here. I say sometimes because that's my laptop, and it's not always awake. It's also not up to date, but just a display demonstration (but it will link to the posting form for the real message board.)

- Hey Al, no complaining, I'd kill for a weekend like that. Hell, I'd kill for a weekend, 'cause my next day off is Sept. 11.
Fuck, I have to give a two day training session starting tomorrow. Two Days! Of Me! Talking! mostly.
Then again, I guess I knew what I was getting myself into, but still, crazy. No West Ed for me, more like North Ed - education building! Woot, training!

- well, have fun at WEM... I hafta say I'm kinda glad I can't go... not so interested in going to something I thought was amazing when I was 6... it'll probably knock the wonder and awe back a lot.
So... instead of WEM-ing it up, I get to watch race-walk races all morning, go to a staff training session in the afternoon, and a goodbye party in the evening. yee haw, and I thought I was going to get some rest this weekend...
well, I hope you and your cousin and whomever else chooses to go have a great time Ed.
what the hell have I gotten myself into this year?? I'm so entirely screwed. ah well, too late now.
