- Ngz, give me a call about Wednesday. I'm pretty sure I'll be good for it.
Oh yeah, a third movie for the list: Control Room, in case you missed it at the Princess. It'll be on CBC (The Passionate Eye) on the 26th and on October 1st. I highly recommend this one, it gives a whole new spin on the war in Iraq. Not that Al Jazeera is the definitive source on anything, but it's interesting to see what we took for granted with respect to the war.

Some films to look forward to
Does anyone feel like they've had it up to here with superhero movies?
Well, until next summer at least, but now the blockbuster season's over, here's two films to look forward to:
The Life Aquatic by Wes "Royal Tenebaums" Anderson - with Bill Murray as a Jacques Cousteau-alike, and some great fictional sea animals - on the strength of this trailer, surely it's going to be brilliant?
The Life Aquatic
The other one is I Heart Huckabees, an "existential comedy" by David "Three Kings" Russell - hard to tell exactly what it's about from this trailer, but what a cast - Lily Tomlin, Dustin Hoffman, Jude Law, Naomi Watts.
I Heart Huckabees
Neither of them are out till next year, mind you

- How do you know they're not old enough to talk?
Okay, so the hockey final is tomorrow at 5. Last chance for hockey this good for a while (perhaps more than a year, judging by how the knuckleheads in charge of the NHL CBA are doing things.) Once again, I'd like to watch it someplace. So... BP's, Riverbend, 5:00 PM tomorrow. Why riverbend? Because I don't want to drive. And I'm an asshole. Or something.
Oh yeah, Beck and Andy (and any other closet Franken-steins who may be kidding on the square), I picked up Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot (and Other Observations) from Wee Book today for $5. I'll let you know when I'm done with it.
Oh and, my prevailing thought during a terror attack memorial moment of silence: "I'm hungry"

Why is it that when someone suddenly has a compatriot of the opposite sex we assume that they are their boy/girl friend? Why can't they just be a compatriot...a normal friend, an acquaintance? ... I mean, yeah the minigo bear and his femme fatale did shoot hearts at eachother and jump in a vat of minigo, but all the same, perhaps they were just being flirtatious and not actually bf/gf. I mean, come on... they're not even old enough to talk, they're still in toddler-speak, the idea of them forming an amourous bond is beyond what one could easily expect anyway. More like cutesey friendship and the first inklings of fulfilling gender roles. You're just assuming that these two bears are together. Perhaps, in some perverse way, they are on a one-night-stand and he in fact has his significant other at home, and she might have her girlfriend waiting in the coffee shop across the street, holding the cuppa joe she'll use to wash that tangy fruit-cheese out of her mouth. You just don't know. So don't make any assumptions! :)

- I've always maintained that Owen Wilson is one of the finest young actors and writers of our day. I personally can't wait for Life Aquatic. Also, while the ever-dashing dude Jude Law will be dishing rad, rude laughs in I Heart Huckabees, let's not forget that he'll also be saving the world from certain devastation as the titular Sky Captain in Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow. This should prove to be an interesting cinematographic endeavour considering it will be one of the first few recent hollywood-backed productions to be filmed entirely on a bluescreen (though technically that's a misnomer as the 'behind-the-scenes' photos I've seen so far have shown an undoubtedly green backdrop). If you would believe it, the creator of the movie began the project himself 10 years ago on his own home computer.
Not to be outdone, the respected Bruce Willis is currently working with first-time director Frank Miller. Yes, that's right- I said Frank Miller; as in THE Frank Miller; As in comic-book writer and illustrator extraordinaire. One of his most famous works is his book Sin City of which he is currently in the process of producing a film adaptation for. The film-noir style and high-contrast footage serves to emulate his gritty inkwork with uncomprimising perfection. He is currently co-directing the film with the established low-budget-blockbuster phenom Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi, Spy Kids etc.).
Speaking of Robert Rodriguez and brilliant film adaptations, Rodriguez recently left work with an in-progress adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' (Tarzan) indisputable sci-fi classic John Carter of Mars series. The movie is tentatively titled A Princess Of Mars, though whether or not this movie will be destined for completion remains to be seen.
Lastly, here's a film tidbit that should have never been lost in the annals of time:
Leonard Nimoy sings "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins". Enjoy.

- A little light reading about a famous shock link (don't worry, this link is clean... or is it? (it is.))
Tricks of the Trade
Yay! The bear that makes no sense is on the internet. And, apparently, in the new ads, he has a girlfriend.
Okay, this is a *big issue* in the *blogosphere* (why do lame words like that and "cyberspace", words that piss me off, get overused and spread into mainstream media, like an irritating catchphrase virus?). Apparently some documents about the President's national guard service were released and some guy figured out that they are forgeries (apparently you can make up an identical copy in MS word.) I'm just curious if anyone who hasn't been in the 'sphere (that's less annoying, anyway) has heard about this, and whether it's as big a deal in the *real world* as it seems to be for bloggers.
