Grand Arms Panzer's next mode is what the Japanese would call "Waverider mode" basically it is a mode were the mecha can both travel from an atmosphere into space and vice versa. Think of it as a craft capable of being a airplane or a spaceship without having to change engine configurations. As you know jet engines are air breathing and will not work in space, however rocket engines can work in both space and in the atmosphere. Grand Arms Panzer being a advance unit doesn't use either of these instead Grand Arms uses a advance "Slipstream pulse drive."
Yep another one of those weird pseudoscience devices in which anime is famous for.

This mode is used to travel very far distances in a moderate amount of speed. It is not as fast as "Burst mode" but the speed that this mode generates can be maintained for longer periods of time. Because of the geometery change needed to achieve this mode the weaponry is reduced by a large amount. To compensate for this this mode allows for Grand Arms to use the internal missle bays and pylons not normally accessable in the other modes.
