The benefit of living in a hostel with about 30 of them for the four days shows that we all pretty much do take care of our personal hygeine... obviously some more than others, but everyone was bathing. The only time body odour became a real issue was after a night on the dancefloor... when we were all pretty much sweating and stinking up the place... as were all the non-granola-type people... so I haven't noticed a real problem. Yes, Tom, I understand where you're coming from, but many non-granola-type people have just as much of a "problem" with bathing as the granola-types.

And... in further explanation... your body relies on the oils it produces to keep skin moisturized and hair growing healthily... so showering every day isn't exactly good for you either... though odour control is definitely a key part of making it work.

oh, and speaking of bathing... I've been using organic shampoo for almost a year now, and holy cow. I grabbed the dregs of my old chemical-y conditioner for washing my hair last night, and damn. I've never been so disgusted in my life. I hate smelling like chemicals. Even if they're supposed to be "pretty" scents, they're not... and they're likely volatile organic compounds that would in the end contribute to chemical death for some people. Yes, from time to time I still use perfume, so I'm not doing this perfectly, and you could call me a hypocrite, but damn did I not like the chemical conditioner experience... So what should I do... dump it down the sink? That seems equally bad, but all the same, if I used it, it would go down the drain then too...

in the budgetary area: Taylor, thanks for that list, it actually did help me. So... I shall definitely be adding a prostitute line to my budget. I'm just not sure if it will be positive or negative... ;) ha ha! anyway, yeah, along the lines of cars and budgets, my folks are paying for my first year of car ownership - registration and insurance. I know, holy shit, eh? Anyway, I officially will have my own car on Saturday, crazy, eh? What the hell am I going to do with a car? Besides put a bumper sticker on it, and hang Pam's fuzzy dice on my rear mirror for a couple of days... perhaps run away! :) anyone want to join me?

winnipeg sounded like fun alison, but did those people u met bathe regularly? i find thats the biggest problem with those granola types, for some reason they have a hard time wrapping their heads around the whole concept of personal hygiene... but i dig what they do, i still respect what they stand for, but i dont get it what does not wearing deodorant and not showering have to do with environmentalism

The province is making some changes to the Residential Tenancies Act which will be in effect in November. I stumbled over a notice and figured it was worth pointing out.

If you're paying for gas, you'll probably wanna pay some insurance every once in a while I'm sure. Also, how about expenditures like toiletries/washing machine stuff... what about utilities, internet connections, cable tv??? What about cell phone bills? What about haircuts? What about newspaper subscriptions??? What about prostitutes???
