He is the only player in NHL history to accomplish the feat twice as he first did so in a 3-0 win at Atlanta on March 13, 2000. In that game at Atlanta, Smyth scored all three of his goals in the third period, making him one of only two players in NHL history to score all three of their goals in the same period, joining Ty Arbour of the 1926-27 Pittsburgh Pirates."
