Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is one of the most controversial of the Godzilla films for taking a thinly veiled stab at American imperialism and Japanese affluence. They say their intentions are to protect Japan from destruction but their true motive is to prevent Japan's rise to economic supremacy. Once the Futurians have the Japanese people believing they are safe from Godzilla, they unleash King Ghidorah and demand Japan's surrender. But Godzilla lives to do battle with the evil King Ghidorah and then the human-controlled Mecha-Ghidorah. This film offers a rare opportunity to see Godzilla be both the good guy and the bad guy in back-to-back scenes.
