See you folks Tuesday. And, for Monday, remember, "We must go forward, not backward, upward, not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom." Feel free to change governments whilst I'm gone.

First things first, hell yeah.

Also, I think I'll skip over the juxtaposition of "lame" and "horse analogy" (although mentioning it doesn't help my quest to skip over it.) As for the substance, I agree, but we're all idealists. We seem to think just because he's running out of steam, he can be replaced. We're out of step with the rest of the province, who believe that, since there's no alternative, he's all we've got. It's funny, really, how this election mirrors the June one. Albertans couldn't believe the East elected Liberals, and the East felt they had no alternative but the Liberals. That and my vote won't matter anyway because I live in Riverbend. The civic election was so nice because I actually got to vote for the winning mayor. I miss that.

So I was looking at the BSE thing. There really seem to be two reactions. The "oh my god, that burger will kill me!... er, that is, it'll kill me in a different way than I thought", and the "problem? what problem? it's just alarmists. Yeah, that's the ticket." I mean, I love an article I read at Mad-Cow-Facts.com, where, upon discovering that BSE was covered up in France, they conclude that they should have more confidence in the US food supply. So much for my confidence in the objectivity of the Center for Global Food Issues (their name sounded so rational...)

Oh, yeah, and speaking of horses, don't forget Hartley's First Law:

You can lead a horse to water, but if you can get him to float on his back, you've got something.

good for TVOTR... I'm surprised they beat out the likes of Dizzee, Franz Ferdinand and The Streets, but no doubt they're entirely deserving of the award.

hmm... what to say...

Taylor, the mad cow that we had in Alberta that forced the closure of the borders actually came from the states... so they've had more mad cow than they're owning up to...

ummm... Paras, and everyone else concerned about the future of Alberta for the next 3 3/4 years, I say we force a vote of non-confidence where everyone in Alberta must vote as to whether or not they support Ralphy boy, not his PC cronies we always vote in. I mean, hell, Redmonton's just getting redder, and we're getting more and more hated by the bluebloods every day, we might as well force something like that through, just to piss in his face.

I think the average Martha and Henry have some serious concerns with Ralphy, whether they're policies for native peoples, energy industry concerns, job market, BSE or the gigantically big red flag that is healthcare, never mind the fact that he's admitted to not giving a shit nor even making an effort to appear like he cares in this election... I just hope that the average Martha and Henry (what are we? a 1930's refugia? I'm still looking for more than one Martha, Henry, Hazel or Frieda than the ones I'm related to and belong to the blue-haired set) care enough to actually vote for their future and not stick with the trusty horse who's won them races before but is turning up lame these days out of nostalgia and loyalty. I mean, you've got to put a horse out to pasture sooner or later. Maybe he'd be a good lesson horse or something, but he's definitely not the racer any more.

okay, I hope you're alright with the horse analogy. I know it's lame, but I don't know how else to put it.

I want change dammit!
