i somehow think I'll be spending a bit of my christmas cash on those charities this year... (especially with the canadian government matching our donations) thanks for putting the links up Par.

um... on another note, do you all believe in pangea?

my dad doesn't. I feel like I'm in Kansas or something... Kentucky? Which states don't let you talk about evolution?

my dad also thinks a lot of things that are at least a half-century old in modern scientific thought... like the idea that there are multiple different layers of universes (like the idea that atoms could themselves be universes) and we (our universe) in turn could be the atoms that make up someone's wool sweater (or, actually, one atom in that sweater). And I'm not so sure he believes in evolution either... or the meteor that hit Earth and killed the dinosaurs, or the fact that we can trace back through the geological record and find out when volcanoes have exploded in the past few 100's of millions of years.

which, by the way, indicates that Yellowstone errupts (yes, it's the world's largest catastrophic volcano... 40 miles wide) on a roughly 600 000 year cycle and we're 30 000 years overdue from the average... I worked and lived on a ticking time bomb! Awesome. Maybe I'll be okay with just having the photos and memories I have, and not returning... world's biggest supervolcano....

but really, my house has become this sort of pleasantville of modern thought... because we're sort-of lacking in it. it's like we're without colour, but instead of colour, it's certain levels of tolerance and beliefs. it's feeling a little twilight-zone-ish in here... (or is that just cabin fever?)

but I can't keep trying to pull the wool back from their eyes. I'm already the eco-warrior, and that doesn't go over so well a lot of the time anyway, how can I then get on his case about homophobia and the existence of evolution? ...among other things... I mean, at least reducing our energy and water consumption is something I can argue for (with more than just the eco reasons for it), but man... everything else is a crapshoot.

Happy New Year Everyone! :p

Sure thing... tomorrow.

Treadmill guy's wearing a Santa Suit. How quaint.

I don't know how you do it, Beck. I'm fairly certain I'm barely coherent right now. I just spendt half an hour yelling along to the Von Bondies so I didn't fall asleep on the drive from the airport.

Paras, can you post a permanent link to the hungersite on the board here? Even if I put the site in my favourites I'm still gonna forget about it, but if I see the link every day (and I do go to this board basically every day) I think I'll remember it. Thanks Paras.
