*ahem* exciting news in the world of Canadian Documentaries: Shake Hands With the Devil won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award (only awarded to documentaries twice, and both times it's been for Canadian ones). Even with the knowledge that the film is going to be horridly fearsome, I think I want to see it... but not until after Thursday. Anyone else interested?

I have mathematically determined that one should sleep simply because sleeping is funny and I like funny stuff.

Why, sleep, why? Lets see, how about water conservation and river treaties? I think I read something about that. Something about old treaties and how they may be anachronistic when dealing with the problems of the 21st century. I believe it was about the Columbia river in particular, maybe you can find other rivers that fall under the same situation.

I find a lot of things funny. I can joke about pretty much anything... even if it's highly inappropriate subject matter. Take rape for example. Not particularly funny on it's own... but I'm sure I could think up something funny for it if the opportunity arose. I deal in generalized scenarios, and only make specific individual attacks when they are JUSTIFIED (in my mind) by stupidity or opportunity. But there is some shit that is NOT funny. And the fact that I found this picture in the midst of a gallery of "funny photos" breaks my heart:



This kid didn't do shit to anyone, nor is he DOING anything that would justify his ridicule. He's just a fucking kid trying to be happy. Only true assholes will laugh at this picture. The thing that pains me the most is that I'm sure this kid will grow up to become just another asshole as he quickly learns that the only coping mechanism is to be a bigger asshole to the people that have ridiculed him his whole life.
