I always used tic and toc to time things... but I think this will actually let you time events to happen when you want.

Thanks Ed! I basically ended up using a "tic" and "toc" function to work as a timer. This might be more accurate however.

[On cutting plots]: In The Royal Tenenbaums we had a whole sub-plot; there was a part that Jason Schwartzman was going to play, a kid living across the street from their house, the son of a diplomat who had escaped from a school in Switzerland and was living in an attic and had like a cable connected to their house, and they were sliding things across it - we had a whole entire story.

I also don't suppose you know how to make matlab take a sample every 5 or 10 seconds?

Done sampling program which will verify if the fire sensor is sending a constant signal. I don't suppose any of you know how to make matlab take a sample every 10 miliseconds?
