Question of style: If you use the adjective 'quixotic', is it necessary to include the word 'windmill' somewhere close to the description, or is that implied?

This will teach me to skip over links from Penny Arcade. It's a interview with the creator of the Sims talking about his new idea: Spore. It's worth a read, if you have a few minutes to spend being amazed by a new style of video game. Not so much the individual parts, but how the parts are brought together into this ever expanding view of the game.

You seem far more excited than I am, alison. Personally, I'm more concerned about getting my life off of my computer. Perhaps I've grown a tiny bit too attached to it. It's good to be forced into a fresh start, though; there's a lot I have to clean up from it. I guess my grad school decision is going to have to go on the back burner for a while (probably until May), so I have time to worry about other, more pressing concerns.

WOO HOO!!!

So... That's fuckin' awesome Par. That is, if you want it. ... sort-of like some of the feeling I got from Vic and Simon after talking with them... I guess decisions are in order... do you want to be in comp-sci or med? interesting times... and by choosing one, it doesn't mean you can't get into the other later on... it'd just be later anyway, AWESOME!

Good Luck deciding. Now you know how I've been feeling lately.

Oh, this can't end badly. After all, Bush calls him a "compassionate, decent man," and we all know that Bush is a good judge of character. Besides, it's not like the World Bank has ever been accused of being a ruthless proxy of the US government's imperial interests.

And, for those keeping score, that's four hard drive failures in the past month for my laptop. Methinks it's time to get the thing warrantied, but first I have to save my precious Astroboys. (Oh, and, of course, all the files that let me write the board. So much to do, so little time.)

On another note, I got an e-mail from Herb Yang (Associate Chair of Graduate Studies for the department), which essentially said I'm in grad school if I want it. And, by the way, contingent on getting an NSERC Fellowship, we've already lined up close to $20 000 to pay you over the two years. But, you know, no pressure to decide. (Except that there's a waiting list, and we need to know as soon as possible.)
