Has anyone checked out the ualberta webmail 2.0?
It's still in beta so you have to access it through a link on the main page.
I never really use my ualberta account but I have one prof that only accepts mail from ualberta.ca extensions. Nothing seems to have changed as far as options, but it's definitely more aesthetically appealing. I'll use that from now on when dealing with this prof.

BTW: Eric, if you're proposing ordering any of that shit, I'm in.

Eric/Par/Alison: I don't know, I just think if I know about them they aren't that indie. Like I don't listen to anything remotely near that area of indieness. Therefore I should only know about overhyped bands that are being pushed at the moment. And hence they should be pretty mainstream for me to know about them. Well they got to eat to, so they need to make money by appearing on a TV show.

A Treasures' Trove

I heard about this around Christmas, but forgot the book title and forgot about it all-together. I was reminded today when I heard on the radio they were interviewing the author. It sounds pretty cool - a fantasy story book for children and adults which contains real clues for 12 real tokens hidden across the USA. The tokens can then be exchanged for valuable jewels worth large sums of money. The millionaire author is not making any money off this... he actually had to pay a lot of money to make it happen... and it isn’t a ploy to sell books since he is donating profits to environmental causes. From the sounds of it, he just wanted to make something fun. Sounds like it might be an interesting read... and a fun road trip.

nah, I wasn't actually planning on doing the whole melrose thing, it's just entertaining to think about from time to time. all considered, you're right, it's a really risky venture, and probably not worth whatever positive may come out of it when the negatives are so heavy on the balance.

though... concensus from some of my other friends is to just plain fuck him. you know, and get it over with... or see what happens. that's like choosing the worst case scenario first, and then going from there. I'd like to think I'm not dumb enough to do that. here's hoping I stay that way.


and, to back Paras up, (?) Bravo Video does not constitute becoming non-indie. Have you not seen who gets played on that? and the lack of regularity? chancing upon a video on Bravo is part of their alternative broadcasting strategy and does not (in my opinion) take away any indie-ness. I mean, come on, it's Bravo... not NBC. In some cases, showing a video on MMM or MM doesn't constitute a change in indie-ness.

I think what he meant is that, because they were played on an episode of Las Vegas, they are no longer indie. (In the same way it's disappointing when some song on a non-mainstream album you own ends up in, say, a Mitsubishi commercial.) Also, I'm not sure appearing on Bravideo (are you sure that's not BravoVideo?) diminishes your indie-ness; at least, not nearly as much as being played in a major primetime network television show.
