Geek-Festers & Jess: I'm going to be in Toronto from Thursday to Sunday, so I'm going to miss out on the usual festivities. Sorry team.
Doc Who Night sounds sweet - your place Par?
If this fails to give you "spirit wood", then I'm afraid you have erectile dysfunction of the heart.

The link wasn't missing... I just didn't add a link to media site or a link to CaptainsQuartersBlog, although I had been reading both on Saturday.
I figured people wouldn't really care (which they don't) or they would find it themselves (which they did) and that real details were likely to come out by monday (which well... didn't).
Either way... it's interesting to watch the thing play out.

The link missing from Ed's post? Or perhaps a link to the blog itself is more appropriate.
The blogger in question: "I think that the point of a free press is to keep the electorate informed about its government ... The Canadian press should have been allowed to report this testimony, and I think it's a shame that Judge Gomery opted to keep Canadians in the dark."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that the testimony will, in fact, be released... after deliberations on the criminal trials of the three witnesses in question have completed. With the trials taking place in Quebec, and the ridiculous popularity of the Gomery Inquiry on TV there, is this not reasonable?
I love some of the comments on the post, though.
- Let conservatism reign in Canada! This scandal is the death knell for the Liberals. Brault's testimony, if it is as reported (or worse!) on this site, confirms the worst suspicions about Liberal corruption.
- Why stand in the way of Quebecois secession?
I mean, what is there in terms of national resources, besides the St. Lawrence seaway, poutine and heroin addicts?
Wouldn't a whinyfrenchectomy be an improvement? - I personally could care less about Kay-bec. Having them leave would allow these 3 Provinces: British Columbia (natural resources - logging, mining), Alberta (energy, petroleum), and Saskatchewan (wheat) to leave Canada and stick everything on Ontario who is almost solely responsible for the conituing re-election of the Federal Liberal Party.
- [In response to a description of inequities between distribution of ridings around the country:] This reminds me of Apartheid South Africa where the ruling Nationalist Party used acreage instead of demographics to elect a 'representative' to parliament.
