actually, yeah, I know what you mean, they weren't great, but I don't think they were shit either. my favourite part was the continuous string of drop passes to nobody don't they ever look? and okay, here's the best part: When you're down in the other team's end of the ice, and you're trying to score a goal, doesn't it make sense to position someone in front of the net? well... yeah, you know where this is going.

Still, I maintain that they weren't terrible, and the price was right: $16 for a hotdog and game... maybe what we need to do to get over the hockey withdrawal next year is attend Pandas and Bears games - they're super cheap, and the teams aren't too bad - plus we'd be supporting our peers. or is that going too far? ;)

see, I saw the Roadrunners last Friday, instead of going to Blue Rodeo :( , and they weren't that bad. Yes, they haven't got near the skill and finesse of the Oilers (and what does that say?), but they weren't falling over. They made a lot of 'pretty' plays that were far too cutesy and it cost them many opportunities (mostly because they didn't have all the skill necessary to back up the pretty moves), but they did win against St. John's (a tough challenge, or so I was told), and they did play a fairly decent game. not so much hitting, unfortunately. Often that's where the lower paid teams excel - fighting and checking - and these guys just didn't perform as anticipated (unilke the old Edmonton Ice, what brawlers). I dunno. It was definitely a more diverse audience, younger and poorer, and oh the screams of little girls... I really wanted to shut them up. and I'm so glad I was never like that.

Hey, Beck, I just had a thought. Do you suppose your Oilers curse (that is, that they lose when you watch) transfers over to the Roadrunners in case of a lockout?

The one sketch in Robot Chicken where Alien and Predator are playing chess reminded me of Alien Loves Predator, another glorious web comic. Of late, a couple of the really good ones are Predator Seeking Prey and Flipping Off.

I saw the Road Runners play last night... there's a reason they didn't make the playoffs. They suck.
It was the Raffe Torres show - he did all the work scoring their 2 goals and had a few break-aways, everyone else kept falling over for no apparent reason, and Brad Winchester spent most of the game in the penalty box.
It wasn't all that exciting.
