How odd, Jess. I have not had that problem at all, either with Firefox or (admittedly, an emulated version of) Internet Explorer. Has anyone else seen this problem?

So I got an email this morning from the contact form:

From: Ortega(ortega_f@mail15.com)

Dear Webmaster,
We have several hotel websites and we are looking for webmasters with sites of similar content.
I think a link exchange will be mutually beneficial. If you are interested please contact me and I will give you all the relevant details.
If we got the wrong person please pass this on to your webmaster so he can deal with our request.

Kind Regards,
Ortega Floid

It's pretty obvious (at least, obvious to me) that it's a bot. Obvious because they only loaded the contact page, and that they didn't view any of the images. What is not obvious to me is the purpose of such an email. They aren't soliciting any payment (at least, not yet). Moreover, if I were running a hotel website, what would I gain by linking to similar content? Either the similar hotels are in my area, in which case I'd be linking to my competition, or they are in a completely different area, in which case I'd be linking to something completely irrelevant.

I've already sent a rather... uh... bluntly worded email back to "Ortega". Before I receive a reply, though, any thoughts about this? Specifically, what would the point of this solicitation be?

Pam - I am going out with my mom Friday night but I may stop by your place later.

Paras - the login thing only works if you click the "Remember me" thingie. And it never remembers me but that may be my family's quasi-religious removal of spyware/cookie things. I'm not complaining, just thought you might want to know.

Taylor - Yeah, I took a directed reading class this semester. I had a topic I was interested in studying that wasn't offered by this university and I knew a prof who just happened to doing her PhD in that topic so I asked her if she would be willing to teach me a class in it. She did most of the administrative stuff. The class was a directed reading study so I did most of the work on my own, emailed her my papers, and we met once every week or two. So I guess if I were you I'd come up with a topic that you would want to study, then find a prof who might be interested, or at least qualified, to teach you that topic. They'll tell you where to go from there. I'd get on it pretty quick though. Hope that's helpful.

Okay... I like the idea of having a soccer game on Saturday too!!!! Kuz I really, REALLY need to have a game. And I think Jsese will back me up for the Saturday game idea.

As for Friday, I could probably totally meet up with everyone at Pam's house after I work. Pam, is that okay? I work till like 10:30 and probably won't be over till like 11? How late is this going?

I sense some tension here, but on a lighter note, I'll be at the Constantines concert on friday, so I am unfortunatly unable to join you for one of the best games ever invented. ciao

JESS: (just wanted to get your attention in case you normally skip my posts like I presume most people do, haha.) Hey, I heard from a few people that you took an "individual studies" course at the UofA. I was just wondering if you could tell me how those classes work because I'm pretty much forced into doing that over spring session and I don't have a clue what's up with them. Like how do you get department consent to enroll, and what do you do for these classes? That sorta thing. Thanks muchly!!!!
