"Whatever happened to Canadian born citizens getting this position? I never considered separation, but I'm beginning to entertain the thought. I no longer recognize my own country and it's not my Canada."
I took a look at the www.gg.ca website, looks like 19 GG's have been born outside Canada, whereas only 8 have born inside Canada. They've been born everywhere! England, Scotland, India, Italy... 'course they were mostly old stuffy british dudes.

Would you rather watch the sequel to that Antonio Banderas Zorro movie, or Zorro 2110, a film featuring Zorro that is set in the future.
It's up to the courts to decide whether the latter can even be made, because Sony claims the rights to the character. (Is there nothing in the public domain?)

First: That Firefly/Warp One story makes my heart sing. (Thanks Tay.)
Anyway, Petro: I'm definitely interested in going to Serenity -- especially with a pal. I know Nate and Lisel are both quite interested too, so we should be able to wrangle a bit of a crew together. When's it open?
Second: I really want to see The Aristocrats. I'm still not sure if it will be playing here in Edmonton, but this movie's right up my alley: It features over a hundred comedians telling the most gratuitously obscene, anti-climactic non-joke.
The joke itself -- named after its punchline -- is essentially a pair of bookends; the start and the finish are always the same, but the middle is a free-for-all that the comedian fills with horrifically hilarious images of incest, beastiality, scatological humour, etc. ("Even in comedy, it's the singer, not the song.")
Here's an example of the joke, featuring the South Park kids. (Watch at your own risk. Seriously.)
Anyway, the film includes favourites like Jon Stewart, Lewis Black, Chris Rock, Penn & Teller, Don Rickles, Eric Idle, George Carlin, Bill Maher, Bob Saget, Sarah Silverman, Drew Carey, "The Onion" staff, Trey Parker (South Park), Andy Richter, Paul Riser, and Kevin Pollak. (And even not-so-favourites like Carrot Top and Andy Dick!) So, uh, I'm pretty excited, to say the least.
Lastly: "Whatever happened to Canadian born citizens getting this position?
I never considered separation, but I'm beginning to entertain the thought. I no longer recognize my own country and it's not my Canada."
If that's the dude's biggest complaint -- that she's not Canadian-born -- well, then, uh, he's a douche.

If you're curious about eric's "LEEEEROY" reference, you may have to watch this clip.
Slashdot comment about intelligent design:
And it's not just the media consumers, but the brains of media consumers, which were hardwired by evolution to prefer gossip, political posturing, and photos of pretty girls and cute babies eating ice cream over thoughtful, rational discourse.
So nobody believes in evolution because of evolution. Which to my mind pretty much proves that there's no intelligent designer involved in this process.

I took care of a rabbit once. I have first hand witnessed this phenomenon. In fact, when I told people this they didn't believe me.

Yeah, its fairly obvious they were playing politics with this one. Apparently reaction to Jean's appointment has been fairly negative... or at least blase. Then again the tone of Canadian politics right now seems to be like that, if not more cynical. Personally I would have liked to have seen Romeo Delaire get the job if he hadnt gone to the Senate.
From my experience with rabbits... I don't think they often eat their own pellets if there are other options around.

Random fact of the day: Whereas most mammals that consume grass have long digestive tracts to deal with grass, guinea pigs and rabbits produce a special kind of feces, different than their normal feces, when digesting grass. They immediately reconsume this pellet to complete digestion.
Well, I didn't know that.

Some of the reactions on cbc.ca to the new Governor General:
For:
- "Jean represents so many things Canadian: immigrants, blacks, women, francophones, the cultural community etc. We can dislike the position of GG all we want, but as long as it remains, a better choice could not have been made."
- "What a profound combination of intellect, character, grace, style and background!"
And against:
- "Whatever happened to Canadian born citizens getting this position?
I never considered separation, but I'm beginning to entertain the thought. I no longer recognize my own country and it's not my Canada. " - "Once again, a left leaning banal media person who will sign any bill, no matter how damaging to the Canadian societal fabric, fills the position once held only by outstanding Canadian citizens with viceroyal stature gained through non-political service of the highest order to other fellow Canadians. "

Can't wait for those tracks Tay.
That Firefly story is awesome too, I have so much more respect for Nathan now, but I can't say I've lost any respect for Darryl, I never had any for him to begin with. I never thought I'd see the day Warp would get celebrity attention, but they got served.
Speaking of Firefly, there's a new Serenity trailer on the net now, for those of you that have not seen it yet. I'm already planning on going opening day for that, anyone else down? Heck, I even know some people that will be dressing up for the opening, if anyone else cares to join in on the fun.
