GeekFesters: I really just realized that I'll be missing out on two consecutive Fridays -- I'm in Nashville this week, and my MRI is on the 19th (7:30 PM). And I don't know how long that whole thing is going to take. If it does take forever, do you think we could play -- possibly even for a supplementary fest -- on Saturday night or even any time on Sunday?

The whole thing seems like an elegant yet straight-forward way of doing things. That link about the xmlHttpRequest was exactly the part I was wondering about. About a year ago or so I made some websites that used some xml pages as a database and used the xmlhttprequest to gather info from the xml pages. The only thing was is that I could only get it to work on IE and on Windows... I figured it was because it was using Microsoft ActiveX, so I gave up on it. Looks like it can be done cross browser / cross platform though.

Ed, my first dip into Ajax was through this tutorial. It's one of those things that doesn't seem too complicated, but seems very powerful. I'm taking a look at the right way to use it before I dive into it.

I wonder if some on the right are competing for Ann Coulter's 'Delusional Insanity' Crown. on the death of Peter Jennings:
Peter Jennings is dead. May he rest in peace. Lest we forget, however, while he was alive, Peter Jennings did considerable damage to the cause of civilization and human decency by his sympathy for Jew-hating terrorists and their supporters. The comments are even more batshit crazy.
