Chatterbox has an interview with Jack "The Sims 2 is porn!" Thompson this week. It was intended to be half an hour, but runs to an hour twenty minutes. I can put up the clip in particular later (it'll require some cutting of the mp3), but his argument that EA is part of a conspiracy (he actually says 'legal conspiracy') with pornographers to get porn into the hands of children goes as follows.
- The Sims 2 is rated T for Teen
- Kids can buy games of that rating
- EA doesn't crack down on people modding The Sims 2
- Some of the mods include making the characters' sexual organs more anatomically defined (I'm taking his word on this one)
- Therefore, EA is giving tacit approval for pornographers to get porn into the hands of children
Hence, EA is evil, and worse than the makers of Grand Theft Auto.

"To Ron's credit, it was one helluva way to go out," human resources manager Gail Everts said. "Ron clearly spent a lot of time on that presentation. If the subject matter weren't so heavy, we'd probably use it to train his replacement."
Beautiful.

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has asked for forgiveness from the Brazilian people for a scandal that has engulfed his government.
He apologised in a televised address to the nation, but said he "did not know" about the alleged corruption and that he felt betrayed.
April 22, 2005:
Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin has made an address aired by television and radio, appealing directly to the country in a controversial and some say desperate attempt to save his crumbling minority government.
The governing Liberals have been embroiled in a corruption scandal, involving millions of dollars of government money.

man, I'm still up too. I wrote a fuckin final exam tonight which I wish I could've had more time to prepare for, but nonetheless I did alright considering. Then I came home and I said to myself "now all that stands between me and passing this class is writing the essay which is worth 25% of my mark and due at 2:00 tomorrow". However, the UofA website is a fucking piece of shit, and tonight I cannot seem to access any of the online e-journal articles. All I get is the message "Error main: error - can't connect to sfx_local_01" when I click the "Get It!" button. It's been like this all night. How the hell am I supposed to do my essay when I can't access any of the fucking material!?!! SON OF A BITCH!!!!
I am going to be ridiculously fucking pissed off if I fail this class because of this...
I CANNOT afford to fail this shit, dammit.

hmm... still not working. And it's too late to take any knock-out pills as I have to work tomorrow.
I suppose it's not too late to find them though...

shit, I wish I could remember, but I don't remember that at all. I know Bollide does his own prints but they're all one-offs (and you know his dealy with tha shapes), Zane USED to work at a screen printing place and made a few himself but got laid off, and the crust-punk dudes at Octopus Ink have a KILLER screen-printing set-up, and I imagine they do it for cheap... 'cept it's hard to say how quick they can get shit done. They're good guys, but nonetheless shady and unsavoury characters to say the least. The only other guy I can think of is this street punk dude from Inner City Merchandising who does all of Blacklisted's shit for super cheap (and yeah, I think this guy does his shit "after-hours"); and he does a pretty good job. I think that might be who you mean... but I can't remember his name. I'd have to talk to Mark to find out.
