Has anyone seen Awesometown?

Apparently it's another one of those failed pilots that turned to the internet for a few last laughs. Nevertheless, it's pretty fucking awesome.

What can I say? Jack Black, Exploding High Fives, Mark Mothersbaugh, Sarah Chalke, and comdey a plenty.

I recommend checking out both the pilot and the dudes' cut, as there is a lot of different content in the dudes' cut.

All right, so it took me, uh, about 30 months, but you finally have an easy reference to HTML. It's in the links, and on the posting form. I expect much grovelling.

song of the day (which also just happens to be the "Canadian choice of the day"):

artist: Elliott Brood
song: Acer Negundo
album: Ambassador
website(s):

  • http://www.elliottbrood.ca/
  • http://www.weewerk.com/elliottbrood.html

    Having only released one earlier EP thus far (of the mini-CD variety), Elliott Brood drops a stellar brand-new full-length. None of the members of this band are named Elliott (or brood for that matter), but the name seems somehow appropriate. Whereas Cursive picked up a cello and Fractal Pattern a french horn, Elliott Brood said "fuck all y'all" and opted for the banjo. Finally- hardcore banjo rock for the masses. Don't fuck with the twang, mang; see them November 26th at the Sidetrack.

    runner-up (which just also happens to be "local-artist-of-the-day"):

    artist: Lobby
    song: Cloudpan (ayoye) download mp3!
    album: Beta 0.8
    website(s):
  • http://www.lobbynet.net/ (Ignore the main page... just hit up the music)

    This fucker was a real bitch to track down on the internet, but damn was it worth it to find a shitload of downloadable mp3s!!! This dude's glitch-fuckery is unstoppable. I can't believe he's from the 780 and I've never even heard of him before! As soon as I'm done with this post I gotta check out the rest of those tracks...

    edit: with lyrics like "you can't eat bread; you're just a dog", how can I not love the track Steamer?
    edit: Eric, this track makes me think of Sunn 0))) with glitch beats: beatenmouth.mp3

    honourable mention:

    artist: Emily Sparks
    song: Day In Day Out
    album: What Could Not Be Buried
    website:
  • http://www.wishingtreerecords.com/releases/emily_sparks_what.htm

    There's a real good reason she's labelmates with the Super Furry Animals; she's fucking awesome. She mixes indie-rock and folk rock into seamless perfection.

    aw, you gotta be fucking kidding me... ninja high school was gonna be my fuckin song of the day today!!! You bastard! You're damn lucky I've got back-up song-of-the-days ready.

    I still can't believe you listened to those bastards before I had a chance to tell you about them. Damn. Way to ruin my discovery, hahaha.
