Holy shit... between the new Cave-In disc and the 13 Knots album... I'm in fucking audio bliss. It's been a looooong fucking time since I've had any discs that have excited me like these two have.

And I haven't even listened to the new Sunn O))), Akron and Holyfuck discs yet!!! And let's not get started on the Sufjan Stevens, XBXRX, Animal Collective, Earth and Head Wound City records... it'll be a good week or two before I can bring myself to get past the Cave-In and 13 Knots albums...

SERIOUSLY: HOLY SHIT!!!

Also, I gotta mention: I'm almost as stoked about the production as I am the music on these two albums. Cave-In's EP "The Tides Of Tomorrow" has always been a mainstay as the best produced rock album in my opinion. But both the new Cave-In record AND the 13-knots record are every bit equal to the Tides of Tomorrow. Fucking amazing.

Hey Percy -

Remember when we were at Chili's talking about politics and then separatism and then I mentioned those bands from Quebec? Anyways here are some links... worth checking out:

The first one has a video with it! The group is Les Voisins (The Neighbours?):
http://ohcanada.lesvoisins.com/

I guess this one is "Hip hop Québécois"... no video. Apparently this is a song that the PQ/BQ will use for rallies. Kinda catchy I guess. Anyways its called "Libérez-nous des Libéraux" and the group is Loco Locass. (The title is "Liberate us from the Liberals" - I think they are talking about their provincial liberals... for the most part, but I'm pretty sure they think the federal and provincial liberals are pretty crappy)
http://www.locolocass.net/mp3/liberez-nous_des_liberaux_128.mp3

And if anyone else reading this really doesn't care about politics or separatism... I dunno check this out:

Kim Campbell says Harper won't win

And she's a bit of an expert in the field. Even when she won (the Tory leadership), she still lost.

And while I'm boring you with hockey, how about this publicity stunt from the Bloc about forming Teams Quebec for international hockey and soccer?

Okay, so it's a good opportunity for sports columnists. They're salivating over picking possible Teams Quebec (it's been a good long time since Team Canada released its 80-player "short list", and the speculation reservoir is extremely high.)

Apart from that, though? What a ridiculous exercise. Duceppe creates a bullshit issue and everyone jumps on it. They're interviewing Georges Laraque about Team Canada. C'mon. I admit that Duceppe could trip on the airplane stairs, scream wildly, and misspell potato (or 'pomme-de-terre', as the case may be) and still sweep through Quebec in this election, but why do we have to contemplate his trivial suggestions about sports?

... I swear, I thought that would be about hockey.

So I'm watching Off The Record (Smytty's on the show, and it's been a while since I've updated my "Ryan Smyth Sports Cliche" count (I think he's up to an even three dozen by now.)) Anyway, the middle segment of the show had to have the most inane debates I've seen in hockey analysis (not exactly a field known for its insight.) Apparently, a few weeks ago, some Anaheim player knocked Petr Nedved (whom you may recall was one not-bitchy wife away from being the Oilers' number one centre... but I'm not bitter) out of action for a few weeks. When Phoenix (Nedved's new team) and Anaheim met for the first time since Nedved's been back, the Phoenix players did not go after the player who hurt Nedved. And Michael Landsberg's debate question: "Are the Coyotes soft?"

Fans are still booing Bertuzzi for his retribution hit two years ago, and this is what they choose to debate? One of the panelists actually says the Coyotes can't go and get revenge in the first game back because the league is watching (in that first rematch.)

Brilliant. Good thing they've taken the Steve Moore injury seriously.
