okay, truly, you're right, finding a gene, finding a maternal cause, finding whatever reason for something to possibly be the way it is isn't necessarily suggesting that they're going to find a 'cure' for something... i just find it interesting that people feel it necessary to seek things like that out in the first place. homosexuality is not cancer... so finding a cause for it seems far less important to me than, say finding a cause for i dunno Lou Gherig's Disease, or homicidal behaviour... or something of that nature. ... something that actually bears to be improved upon
i mean, besides which, homosexuality isn't exactly new. it's been around just as long as everything else, so why bring a study like this together in the first place? do they study the likelihood of boys turning out to be heterosexual, and possible genetic, familial or otherwise causes of that? (like those post cards you can find now of couples and the tagline "When did you chose to be straight?")
I dunno, maybe it is a step, recognizing that people aren't necessarily choosing to be LGBTQ, just that they are, and that there really isn't anything one can do about it, except (hopefully) accept them for who they are and not ostracize them (or build armies with them...) haha, oh to have been a spartan or an amazon...

Fuck it... I'm just gonna straight-up make a me-sized version of this:
why the hell should dumbshit kids get all the sweet rides? fuck that. I shall rectify.
I mean, how hard can it be? get a seat... attach rear wheels, attach pedals DIRECTLY to front wheel (no chain involved)... and then maybe steering might be more difficult, but I'll figure something out.
Speakin of sweet rides:
MY XL70 LIVES AGAIN!!!
Clarky and I fixed my motorcycle tonight. She breathes again. It was mostly just a matter of adjusting the carb properly.

Would finding genetic, perinatal and postnatal causes for shyness, leadership, creativity, logical-thinking, intelligence, left- or right-handedness, a wicked slapshot, preferring strawberry to raspberry, or any other such traits be the first step in a grand plan to "cure" these conditions?
There's a plotline in Regenesis (a Canadian show about the cutting edge of biotechnology and its ethical, political, terrorist, and other implications) in which a scientist discovers an allele of a gene that is linked to homosexuality. Apart from all the typical "if your baby were" or "if you were and had the choice" questions, there was a more interesting question asked. If you were gay and you didn't have the allele (or, to generalize, the genetic or perinatal confluence that was supposed to bring about homosexuality), what would that mean about you?

"i don't really mind the possibility of genetics being factor for homosexuality.
but then that would mean that there are Gay Babies. just saying"

hmm... interesting:
The probability of a man being gay rises the more older brothers he has, a finding that adds weight to idea sexual orientation could be influenced in the womb.
Some sort of "prenatal factor" such as a maternal immune response to several male fetuses could be at play, altering the brain development of younger brothers, Blanchard told CBC Newsworld.
The findings don't rule out the effects of learning in homosexuality, but more research is generally finding prenatal effects, he said.
but that only 'explains' (supposedly) male homosexuality... what about women?
wait a minute, why are we trying to explain it anyway? is this another effort to 'cure' people of it?? it's a strange sort of research to conduct if you ask me... ulterior motives, anyone?

Jere and Dana, as much as i was actually really looking forward to bad movie night tonight, i am too bloody hot to want to relocate from my basement with a fan on my back. and judging by the temperature in the upstairs part of our house, i'd imagine that your apt. is rather toasty at the moment. maybe i'll show up in a bit when i'm less roasted (stupid sun burn), but if i don't, it's not 'cause i don't like y'all, it's 'cause i'm just too freakin' hot.
but i hope you have fun anyway.

i concur. definitely not the most justifiable reason to leave a city. but whatever, you know? not my life, not my relationship. i just couldn't let the "if she was a decent wife..." comment slide. so i made an issue of it. ... in my need to spice things up every now and then... no worries. i don't hate anyone.
