random question for the floor: anyone know what the average U of A entrance scholarship was for? was it $1000? I've forgotten and my records don't cover it, unfortunately. (and supposedly I need to know in order to apply for scholarships now)
... oo! just figured it out. never mind. it was $1000
and... if you're at all curious, this is what I'm supposedly doing for the next couple of years:
The research I am conducting in Forest Ecology and Management focuses on mixedwood management, as it pertains to aspen regeneration, in response to strip and uniform shelterwood harvest systems. While studies have examined aspen response and recovery to various styles of harvest regime, little has been done on an operational scale encompassing different areas of Alberta's boreal forest. The study area of my project encompasses mixedwoods in Conklin, Wandering River, High Level and Grande Prairie, Alberta. Aspen recovery will be investigated through different means, via the direct effects of the various harvest methods utilized, the effects of residual aspen and spruce and the effects of machine traffic and corresponding soil compaction. The ultimate goal of this research is to determine whether these harvest methods will be successful in producing mixedwood second growth, or if they will simply allow for spruce understory release and minimal aspen regrowth.
hooray for scholarship applications!

well, we've got Reasoner back, for two years. Still, doesn't fix our blueline problem... and we'd better damn well sign Horcoff soon. ... but our offence is looking pretty good... if you ask me

hey, anyone interested in some culture?? :)
The River City Shakespeare Festival has The Taming of the Shrew playing tomorrow night
So, if anyone would like to join me,
8pm Hawrelak Amphitheatre The Taming of the Shrew
$17 adults, $13 students (you can try your one card if you still have it!)
or ... a two-show pass for $26... if you're keen enough to see Hamlet too
you may want to bring some extra spending cash to splurge on penny candy or whatever other refreshments you desire, and perhaps a warm something if it cools off, and maybe some bug spray.
but that's the deal. I'll be there, and if anyone wants to join, they're more than welcome. Sounds like it'll be an entertaining show.

P, I didn't really see you reducing the fleet. Maybe I missed something.
Anyway, the Gaut sends me to beckon people to a movie at his place at 8:15. Do with this information what you will.

Yeehaw! It looks like I can still incite a minor uproar. Still got it.

I wish I visited the board yesterday because I would have liked to watch to movie with friends; but I nonetheless enjoyed reducing the fleet into sparkling death....
