Funny thing is you can't actually race well when drifting. The more conventinal way of racing "grip racing" is much faster. This is because you don't lose power as you go around corners, you may power slide but this is caused by the addition of power that powers you around a corner, known as oversteer. For drifting you are actually losing power as your tires lose traction. It looks cool but you are slowing down and wasting power in order to maintain the drift. So drifting is mainly for show. And working your wheel back and forth doesn't neccessarily mean you can drift. It depends on the balance of your car and the inherent characteristics of your cars suspension and drive train setup. Forward driving cars are very hard to drift if not impossible. An Acura RSX or Toyota Celica would be a good choice since they are light and balanced very well even though they are both forward driven. Pretty much all rear wheel driven cars have a great potential to drift. Lastly there are several different ways to initiate a drift the most only doable in a manual transmission car. On a final note drifting totally destroys the suspension and drive trains of cars. That is why most people who do drifting buy old Corolla GTS, VW Golfs or if you really have some money old Skylines.

Yep I have too much time.

Wow. When you're looking for updates about a terrorist attack on a rail line that your family uses, reading contextual links entitled "Watch rescuers pull blood-covered victims from wrecked trains -- 1:59" is not at all helpful.
