Pete, I think I'll be able to join you for a bit at the Plant if you're still going.
Enjoy,

- yeah, Tay, you're probably right
it just seemed odd that the media had such a high-profile dealing with the first part of the news and then nothing for the aftermath (aside from the letters, which also died down pretty quickly). I'm not worried about safety on campus.
I just thought it was pretty heartless of everyone to not seem to care much further than "oh, some dude got stabbed, holy shit." I mean, in the interest of his wellbeing, or for the sake of closure on a subject, I thought it was odd that the media never got into any resolution.
I mean, you look at the 'Punky' Gustavson case, 13 years later it still makes the news, and wrenches the hearts of everyone, especially her family, but the media let us know that the police finally got a lead on her abductor and killer. We got nothing here. And sure, most likely it's because the victim and his family wanted nothing further to happen, but what if it's because the university silenced things due to bad PR or something like that?
I like playing in the "what ifs" so sorry if it irks you. So, I'll go with the Occam's Razor, but I like to keep my options open... explore all other possibilities ... (no wonder I can never make decisions)

- um... did anyone ever stop to think that maybe they were just respecting the wishes of the victim and his family when it wasn't publicized? I don't know if that's true or not... but let's not suddenly jump to absurd conclusions of cover-ups and conspiracies.
Have you ever heard of Occam's razor? "Pluralitas non est ponenda sine neccesitate" or translated directly: "entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily". In other words- the simplest answer is the most likely answer.
Everybody probably just forgot about it. I sure as fuck did. Who cares?

- I understand what you mean, Ed.
It's just that the way it was played up and then dropped made me suspicious that the University was behind the media gag. Then again, who cares if the guy gets better and the people get caught because in the end it was a targetted attack and no one else was at risk... I guess that's part of what they were trying to get across. but it would still be nice to know that that was the actual truth.

Im not sure you can call it secrecy and censorship... its an issue of the state of our media and media hype. Im sure if you asked the police, they would give you some sort of press release or statement about the situation that the media never bothered to pick up on... and if no reporter follows up on the situation, then those questions won't be answered for the public. Maybe that guy didn't want any attention from the media, public, or university.
