Yeah, I was planning on going to that show with The Floor, Fake Cops and Radio Berlin. I've missed Radio Berlin twice now and I fully intend to right that wrong. Also, the Fake Cops (they're from Calgary) are really kick ass. Last time I saw them was at the All Purpose Voltage Heros CD release/Wolfnote vs. Mach Tiver show. That was SUCH a good show!!! Hell, didn't APVH play with Radio Berlin down at Listen Records last time they were here? Fuck... I wish I saw that show.

I agree with paras on that one, combinations work best. I use Spybot-S&D, Ad-Aware Professional and Spyware Blaster, spybot's the quick one that gets most of the adware, and then ad-aware takes care of the more complex and annoying ones that spybot misses, most of the time...

My brother's computer got stuck with some nasty adware variant while I was in vermilion that would always reinstall itself each time ad-aware detected it (for those interested, it used a combination of about 5 registry key changes, 3+ random character executable files and ate alot of system memory... slowed the computer down to a crawl, and Paras laughed at my misery as I tried to fix it) but that's a rarity and doesn't happen that often

Ad-Aware Cloak is an interesting little program that helps if Ad-Aware closes each time it's run, some spyware detect adaware and kill it before it can do any good. MajorGeeks.com is generally a good source for spyware software as well as other things

Generally, I find that Spybot tends to only disable the majority of the spyware, leaving inactive bits and pieces all of the place, but its good for the quick fix and takes care of the more common problems

Yeah, anyway. I assume you want something free (pay for software? never!) I haven't used spyware cleaners in a while, and when I did, Ad-aware seemed to do a pretty good job, but if you are interested in others, I did find this review on CheapGeek.net: Spyware Cleaner Comparison.

In general, it shouldn't hurt to use more than one, just to cover your bases. Of course, updates are extremely important and, in some cases, reinstalling may be necessary, as they have begun to actually uninstall anti-spyware tools.

Also useful (and free!) is Spyware Blaster, the proactive approach. This tool prevents the installation of malicious software. Of course, none of these tools are perfect, but they should get the job done pretty well, particularly in concert.
