okay, so I went to HUB at about 3:15 to buy books (the Book Cellar has some incredibly cheap books, I'm talking hardcover for 6.99, and big picture books for 15). And... it was sorta partially sunny. You know, clouds scudding across the sun now and then... windy, but still nice. And... at 3:45 when I started to head back, lo and behold the heavens opened and the sky fell down upon me. It is pouring out there. I'm wearing white pants. this isn't good. Anyway, the walk from HUB (through Rutherford) to SUB was enough to get me soaked. And I mean to the skin. Don't go out unless you've got an umbrella or raincoat. or... if you're not wearing white. stupid white pants!

Here is that game I was talking about Paras:

I finally won it. Ten minutes into extra time off of a header from center field. I was lucky though because golden goal doesnt let you continue on in the tournement in the other rounds.

Take that, Morgan Spurlock! Here's a guy who actually got healthier on a similar type of McDonalds-only diet.

Did you find the ring, or was it trying find you....? (All right, that's the last Lord of the Rings reference, I promise.)

I was thinking of H-Fest on Monday afternoon. It wraps up at 7, leaving plenty of time to see another masterful masterpiece of cinematic mastery at its most... masterrific?

On the X-Prize front, the American Mojave Aerospace Ventures, the group funded by Paul Allen of Microsoft fame, has announced they will make their first qualifying flight on September 29, 2004. (Recall, they must make two in two weeks to claim the $10 million.) Meanwhile the da Vinci Project will unveil Wildfire (sounds like a monster truck, but whatever) next Thursday. Apparently, their plan is based on lifting the craft to 80 000 feet on a helium balloon, then firing the rockets to launch it to the required 100 km. Should be interesting...

um... Taylor, that's pretty creepy... did you talk to police?

and in regards to the whole Mittens thing, she was at that photo shoot at the Leg. You could've seen her there, and there are two photos of her in the latest SEE (the one at the Leg, and one other one). very ecclectic dresser...

in other news, I found my ring! I knew I hadn't lost it, but now it's found, and I'm going to try my best not to lose it again.

And... it's a long weekend, what're people doing for it? Sam Roberts is playing at K-Days on Saturday, I"m going, but otherwise, I have no idea what to do the next three days... except take care of Pam's dogs... any suggestions? (not about the dogs, but the rest of the weekend) And... does anyone want to join me at Heritage Days in the park? I'm planning on gorging myself on baklava at all 12 or so of the locations that are serving it... but I would welcome company, of course. We can eat more than just baklava, promise! (although, what a dream that would be... mmm)

Ever seen a man stabbed on an ETS bus, his shirt covered in blood, and the aisle of the bus dripping red???

    Unfortunately, I have.

Yeah, that band "Shout Out Out Out Out" -- for those of you who haven't heard -- is the new band with Nik Kozub and Will Zimmerman... and GET THIS: GRAVY's ON THE DRUMS! Holy yikes... he's ALREADY in Whitey Houston, The Skinny, Slow Fresh Oil, and some other band I can never remember the name of. Talk about a band-slut!!! FIVE bands! Friggin drummers. At least he's one of the best drummers in the city, so I guess it's perfectly excusable considering. Hell, I'd get him to drum for LIME and LDF if I thought I had a half a chance at convincing him.

But also I really want to see those DJs too... Mittens is s'posed to be kinda cute, or at least that's what I've been told... and besides, they apparently love Blonde Redhead and Xiu Xiu... so how can you lose???!

That wasn't a rhetorical question dumbass. The correct answer was "you can't".
