Thanks to everyone who came out last night, especially with all the venue changing. I hope, in spite of my bad luck with choosing places to go, it was still fun. Special thanks to Pam and Jess for putting up with me at the end of the night. Unfortunately my streak of not throwing up is over (and I recall a discussion in which I was allowed to blame ngz for that). Fortunately, though, my streak of lacking a hangover remains intact!

I think the Flash SDK is getting used more, and some open source flash development tools have popped up. The downside is that they are not fully functional for all features of flash editing (and probably the newest versions of actionscript). Here is the one I could find... but I didnt really look into it much more:

Just saw Electra this evening. That's the one with the "c", the play, the Greek one, the one without the ninjas. It was kind of strange. I found myself thinking, "Wow, this is a lot like Hamlet," before realizing no, *Hamlet* is a lot like *Electra*. Suddenly I pictured Shakespeare pitching his great new brainwave... "I've got this great idea for an Electra kinda thing. Same basic setup, the king is murdered, the murderer takes the throne and marries the queen, Electra's all devastated. Except -- get this -- Electra is a *guy*. He's like a combination of Electra and Orestes [Electra's brother], right? He can do all the carrying on about how great his father was and how terribly he's suffering, like Electra, but he also gets to kill the bad guy, just like Orestes! Bam! And let me tell you the ending. Forget all this stuff about punishing the wicked and rewarding the faithful. Picture this: Everybody Dies. Twice the gore, and we get a bunch of the moral ambiguity stuff that people are into these days. I'm tellin' you man, this Electra-As-A-Guy thing, audiences are gonna eat it up."

Mr. Dithers. An apt, if somewhat abrasive, description of Paul Martin's Prime Ministership. It does, of course, give him an out; that he was once a decisive leader and could do so again. Of course, incidents like this are less than helpful.

I'm not sure it matters yet, though. Stephen Harper is as ineffective as Martin, and neither of the other two parties matter (although, if all you wanted to go on was conviction and leadership, either Gilles Duceppe or Jack Layton would make far better candidates than Martin and Harper. If not for their politics, of course.)

Well, the one good thing about bloggers is, if there's a Daily Show clip about them, they're willing to post it. It's pretty low quality, but the spot with my favourite correspondent, Ted Hitl Stephen Colbert, is hilarious.

On a related note, I want to use the phrase "that's a five-stroker" more often in regular conversation.
