The following are from the Listen records mailinglist:

*Daedelus - Exquisite Corpse - Ninja Tune - LP/CD
- Exquisite Corpse is an ode to and a lament for hip hop culture. Featuring solo contributions and collaborative efforts with guests whose performances range from traditional (MF Doom, Sci from Scienz of Life) to poetic (Mike Ladd, CYNE, Laura Darling) to experimental (Prefuse 73, Hrishikesh Hirway of The One AM Radio, TTC, Jogger), Exquisite Corpse's form combines disparate elements into Daedelus's single-minded vision. The album title's triple meaning-- a reference to death, a grand body of work, and the Surrealist group drawing game-- directly reflects the music's sum of the best elements of Daedelus's past productions. Guest emcees and vocalists contrast their own styles with Daedelus's sugar-laden undercoating, proving that there are no limits to what can be included on a hip hop album. With releases on Plug Research, Hefty, Tigerbeat 6, and Eastern Development, Daedelus's refined style has no imitators. Contrasting IDM styled cut-ups with childlike arrangements from the '30s and '40s, his sound is entirely new. His productions find the hidden common denominator between modern electronics and sampled music from days gone by. Recording out of Santa Monica, Daedelus now incorporates hip hop into his mix, with guest spots from Busdriver (Afterlife), Sach (Nonce), Absract Rude (Project Blowed), Madlib (Stones Throw), and High Priest (Anti-Pop Consortium), all leading to his work on the 2003 Mush full length The Weather.

Kid Koala - Live From The Short Attention Span Theater Tour - Ninja Tune - CD+DVD
- Five tracks captured live in London during Kid Koala’s ambitious Some Of My Best Friends Are DJs tour. Anchored by the concept of a turntable band, Koala, along with DJ Jester and P-Love rocked the house with eight turntables, two Wurlitzers, some effects, some mics, and a ton of records. There was comedy, animations, performance, audience participation, and an intermission for Bingo. Includes a bonus DVD with twenty-five minutes of music shot at the same performance, as well as the videos from “Basin Street Blues” and “Fender Bender,” the Monkmus-created animated sequences from the show, and a lovely Bingo Image Generator so you can relive the night over and over until you actually win a game.

*V/A - TV Breaks & Sound Effects Vol.1 - Yosumi - 2LP
- Finally, a breaks record for me. From the creators of Video Game Breaks, Cartoon Breaks and Hip Hop Essentials: Movie FX. Nearly 80 minutes long.

I wasn't trying to mock you. I just wasn't sure if it was a one time glitch or a repetitive thing. I doesn't matter to me if you take your time on it or not, I just thought I'd let you know. hence the double-checking post to make sure it actually does what I thought it does. ... so there.

fuck... so tired. this is awful. and you should see my office... ti's worse than a pigsty... and I can't type and I can't hardly think or string words together when talking, and ... my hand-eye coordination has gone to shit. and what did I do? I drove today. And I plan on hanging out after our movie is over this evening to find out how the election resolved itself. maybe I'll sleep in my car in the HUB parking lot. mmm... sleep...

Something impressive... wish I got to see it. I walked by at about 3:30 when my meeting was done and there were still hundreds of RCMP and police walking around.

"My editor at Kensington was one of the first to approach me several years ago, so I went with them. On a side note, this book almost didn't happen when I showed my editor my proposal. He called me in a panic saying that packing this much awesome in one book was unprecedented, so I suggested that we throw in a couple of blank pages every now and then to space things out."

um... I think I meant "highly" instead of "hardly" but at this moment, my mental functions lack any clarity whatsoever... so much so that it's taking me a really long time to type this... without spelling mistakes.

man, go to a rock show and what do you get? smoky bar voice. it's not even sexy this time, just loud, rough and old-hag-like. grr. but I got to see Todd Kerns and Gordie Johnson. ooo! It was pretty fuckin' awesome, though it's been a horridly long time since I was at one of these... mmm Todd Kerns. so good. And Gordie, well, his guitar is phenomenal. his lyrics suck. I don't know what he's thinking. You can't have a song where the only words are "she may be white/ she may be black/ it doesn't matter to me" that's not a song. that's a string of words to suggest that you'll sleep with anyone. So, while I enjoyed myself, I continually thought that the rest of the audience was deluded for thinking that rock gods are geniuses. because, damn, those lyrics are crap. (yeah, I know, for good lyrics, I shouldn't be looking at rock, but still, I was disappointed.)

"A Japanese company by the unfortunate name of tmsuk has just announced the world's largest robot capable of carrying a person - the 3.5m tall, 5 ton T52 Enryu HyperRescueRobot. Their product site is in Japanese, but here's a few fun facts: it's 10m wide with its arms fully outstretched, is powered by an onboard water-cooled three cylinder direct injection diesel engine, has a maximum speed of 3Km/h, and carries seven 680,000-pixel CCD cameras with a separate monitor for each camera. If no whiny 14-year-olds are available to pilot it, it can be remotely controlled (with a dummy plug in the cockpit, presumably)."
