Applications are found where research funding is allocated. For over 50 years, every breakthrough had military applications (I can't remember why... something about a kerfuffle between the US and the USSR).

Now, everything has Homeland Security applications. There's money in military, medical, space, and oil-drilling applications, so new technology will find those applications.

Thanks Jesse... I think you're right... it should've been out for a few days now. I'm probably going to blackbyrd in just a little while here.

Al: Yeah, according to that line-up we're playing last, but James told me on the phone that one more out-of-town band is going to be added to the line-up and THEY'LL actually be playing last. From what I can tell we'll be playing at around 7:00. I intend to get there by 6:30 at the latest.

So you are the last band which means you play at around 7:30 Pm? Or is it the other way around? I'm confused brain not working after final.

How come every new scientific breakthrough has to have homeland securtiy applications? (Refering to Par's post on mini nuclear fusion) If I invent a new way to make frictionless bearings without using any lubricant will this have homeland security applications as well?

On another note, so Tay this means you are playing at 1:00 PM then? I might not be able to make it... I'll try though.

Alison, you should maybe try calling Beck (although I don't know if his phone is hooked up), or we can get him to call you tonight (assuming I see him tonight at Jess'). He's internet-free until Saturday (the horror!!)

why oh why do I get butterflies in my stomach over this still?
I e-mailed my prof my resume yesterday, and he responded (because I said the whole "I'm still interested, don't forget about me..." line) with "we're counting on you starting with us next spring" um, woo hoo? I think this is exciting. maybe i'm just too stressed right now. my stomach responded with butterflies, and I smiled, but the feeling soon passed... spring, it almost seems too soon, and it's a whole year away yet.

stupid freakin' compy. maybe it'll cooperate now... fingers crossed...
um, I don't know how likely it is that I'll be able to stop by tonight, but I'll try my darndest, even if it's only for 15 minutes. One more day, that's all I need. Then I'd be all caught-up. honest! this is crazy.

ugh. this sucks. my computer is frozen... and 'thinking' ... so I thought I would give it a couple more minutes' grace before I pull the plug. but still.... wtf? it's my last day of work, like hell I have enough time for this to happen... three monthly reports, two budget reports, a final report and a transition manual... plus I have to pack. and I have a meeting downtown, and a bunch of training to do. fuck.

but, on a lighter note, one of the guys in the mac lab near me is playing Queen quite loud on his headphones.. "She's a killer queeeeennn..." ... "dynamite with a laser beam" haha!

HEY BECK! ARE YOU STILL UP FOR DRIVING ME TOMORROW MORNING, OR SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
