You're right Par, an over-sight on my part. That would make it much simpler...

From Slashdot, Russia's Biggest Spammer Brutally Murdered.
It seems that the motive is a toss-up between the legions of frustrated people who would want him dead (mostly for the American English Center spam), and Russian Mafia.

One minor quibble. It's not as complicated as figuring out which multiple of nine is in the window. All the multiples of nine are associated with the same symbol.
Most of the "I know what you're thinking and let me prove it" puzzles work this way. If has to do with numbers, it almost always involves 9 in some way.

Apparenlty my math wasn't working that night, but it worked and I figured out how the next morning. hmmm 72-7-2= 63. 74-7-4=63. the random # is no longer quite so random

Since people keep playing with this site, I figure I'll add my two cents:
The Preceptual Illusion explained:
First of all, no matter what number you pick, you will always end up with a multiple of 9. Try is out, any number of the form "ab" will result in a multiple of nine if you subtract "a" & "b" from "ab"
ab - a - b = c, 9|c
So the only "random" numbers you will pick is 9,18,27,36,45,54,63,72,81.
Edo, you are correct, I've noticed that at any resolution, you can only display 9 numbers/ symbols on the screen at any point in time. This means that you could only have one multiple of nine on the screen at any given point in time. He seems to have created some code that detects which numbers/symbols are displayed within the frame at any time. If the code knows the range of numbers being displayed on the screen, then it would not be difficult to figure out which multiple of 9 is displayed on the screen.
This is what it does, it figures out which mulitple of 9 is displayed in the frame, and then tells you that you were thinking of the symbol associated with the number that is a multiple of nine.
Beck, you are also correct, the string you enter into the box is irrelivant, and it does change the symbols everytime you reload the frame. But, the symbol with always be associated with a multiple of nine! Try it out, it always works.
Oh also, for those of you who could not get the site to work, try clicking the "submit" button, rather than pressing "enter" on the keyboard. For some reason, the code does not like the enter key.
You know, I really do have lots of things I should be doing, and yet I still choose to procrastinate with stuff like this...

it's got nothing to do with what you type in there any random string of letters/numbers will do.
The symbols randomly regenerate when you go back so the answer is always different.

If you follow the instructions it works. I've seen the puzzle/illusion before on paper, and it's much easier to figure out on paper. I think the website is designed so that you can't see too many of the symbols at once and figure out the pattern.
