It seems that the motive is a toss-up between the legions of frustrated people who would want him dead (mostly for the American English Center spam), and Russian Mafia.

One minor quibble. It's not as complicated as figuring out which multiple of nine is in the window. All the multiples of nine are associated with the same symbol.

Most of the "I know what you're thinking and let me prove it" puzzles work this way. If has to do with numbers, it almost always involves 9 in some way.

Apparenlty my math wasn't working that night, but it worked and I figured out how the next morning. hmmm 72-7-2= 63. 74-7-4=63. the random # is no longer quite so random
