not yet in the abyss...

um, any of you compy-savvy peeps: I have a question.
we have a new computer, and it's already been quarantined and decontaminated of viruses (taking us to two weeks of internet-free living), but my bro still thinks it's in safe-mode. how do you know if it is? Isn't there something really obvious about safe-mode that tells you you're in it?

any help would be appreciated.

Jesse, you bastard! :) ah whatever, so what if i paid pretty much double what you paid for my "one true love's" cd, it was worth it. And he didn't sign your copy now, did he? haha! I haven't listened to Fiama Fumana just yet - too many other cds have been in my playlist lately - but the Alejandro one, well he sounds a lot like Greg Keillor without Blue Rodeo. I'm not so sure I'm happy with it... but I'll give it a few more listens before I really flip out, and then maybe you can borrow it or something... how about for all of October and most of November, are you interested?

I will have to agree with you that Pearl Jam was fabulous beyond all reasonable hope. And I still owe you that hug for getting me the ticket. thank you thank you thank you! Rumour has it they might be selling bootlegs of the live performances via Ten Club in the future... wouldn't that be great? I still can't believe they opened with Release, like heaven on Earth (but now I'm sounding like a totally obsessed teenage fan, so I should stop)

One last thing before I disappear into the abyss yet again: You missed a fabulous show on Friday. Danny Michel was phenomenal - he blew his folk fest performances out of the water - and the AA Soundsystem was a lot more country than alt- but still really wonderful, and Trevor Tchir (good local musician to look up if you're into mellow stuff) was superb despite being a bit drunk (?) and I got to meet him, because it seems like all my friends already know him anyway. i'm still in love with amos lee though! haha!

Sheeeeyit. Check out this 12-year-old playing a drum solo. How the fuck is it possible to be that good at something at age 12???

Saw Hank Wang today and after talking with him he put everything into perspective. My dad knows squat about getting a engineering job. Period. Hank is still looking for a job and so are about half our graduating class. You just have to keep on trying otherwise you'll never get it. I guess that what life is, a struggle. Nothing comes easy. So I WILL get a engineering job, it isn't a matter of if it is a matter of when.

For anyone who hasn't yet heard, Keri's birthday is on Sunday.
Sunday is kind of a shitty day to do stuff, especially at night.
Therefore we are celebrating it tonight.
Meet at BP's on Calgary Trail at approx. 8 o'clock for some good... er... company? celebration? food? conversation? any of those.

Hope to see you all there.

I don't think people combine D&D, Mystery Science Theatre 3000 and Jack Chick nearly often enough.

Don't despair Al, be your own rock, faith in yourself is only worthwhile when it comes from within. Your parents mean well, but they seem confused. You didn't go through the trials for an engineering future only to have it dashed by the misplaced words of your father at the finish line. Try to forgive them later, but for now your resolve is the only weapon.

Hey Guys,

This is just a reminder that the Sleeping Bag Drive-In at the U is on tonight, it will be in SUB Stage, so come on out and enjoy the movies. We're showing Big Fish and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I know you've been before, so come again, it's going to be fun.
