You can force/doublecheck the boot mode (ie normal or safemode) by tapping F8 when the computer starts up and selecting whichever mode you want

The website Al linked to pretty much explains it with the picture, when you're in safemode at the top of the screen it will say windows xp build "x", with the words safemode in all the corners

I know the older versions of window had downgraded colours when you were in safe mode. For XP I don't know. For sure in safe mode you can't do alot of processor intensive applications, as well your access to programs will be limited. Better ask Leo.

Guess which local band with 4 people got mentioned in ED today? I'll give you a hint, this implement wouldn't be used for cooking. Stabbing yes, cooking no.

not yet in the abyss...

um, any of you compy-savvy peeps: I have a question.
we have a new computer, and it's already been quarantined and decontaminated of viruses (taking us to two weeks of internet-free living), but my bro still thinks it's in safe-mode. how do you know if it is? Isn't there something really obvious about safe-mode that tells you you're in it?

any help would be appreciated.
