hmm. yeah that was one of the problems that always bugged me at work - why did they ever start making computer cases without an power button?
in any case you could always do it the cold old fashioned way- yank the power chord straight out.

pathetic, eh? (and i really hope you were being sarcastic!) at least the liberal one isn't resting too tightly on the rollercoaster of election pitfalls and prosperity, nor trying to come up with 5 reasons - which distill down to one (gst reduction) - to vote for his particular politician. 'cause if truth be told, both gents certainly have a large pile of work to do if they think they can sell their respective leaders to Canada (or maybe just me...)
besides, there's got to be some levity in what will most likely be a rather ugly, bitter political campaign. it's like having a way over-biased Rick Mercer in the fray, or putting butter on your bread, it just adds something to make the whole schtick more palatable

aiuto!
my bro appears to have 'locked' our computer so that you can't switch users and/or turn it off... and I KNOW he doesn't know how to fix it. anyone out there want to give me advice?
I want to go to bed, but if our compy freezes up yet again... fuck. I hate this damned machine. never let your bro open files from MSN, it fucks things up seriously... for months on end too... (and the fact that my mom blames it all on the internet (in general) doesn't help things)... and i'm sooooo tired, i just want to go to bed.
or... maybe it's not locked, and there's something else wrong. What would prevent you from turning your computer off? (when there's nothing being run... no programs etc) I've tried ctr+alt+del and all the other usual ways of turning off my compy... next is to hold the button down, but that seems too harsh somehow.

I'm not suggesting that this should be a key issue in your election decision making, but a brief comparison of the Liberal Campaign Blog (which, for sheer self-deprecation is officially worth your time bored at work) and the Conservative Campaign Blog:
Liberal:
Dear Blog Boy: Do you get to write whatever you want? Can you get the PM to say whatever you write? - B.M.
Ha, ha. You're funny! Remember how much Gollum cared about the ring? Well, compared to the PM's interest in speeches, Gollum lacked commitment. I know most people probably think a politician gets handed a sheaf of papers a few minutes before a speech, looks it over and then reads the words to the assembled masses. And perhaps some do. But the Prime Minister works through the policy, the structure, the content and the phrasing, after which he finally sits back, relaxes and politely asks me to stop crying.
Dear Blog Boy: Please settle an argument that I am having with a coworker. He says Paul Martin eats his muffins slightly warmed up with a pat of butter, and I say Paul Martin is too busy and important to eat actual food and instead subsists on a protein-rich slurry feed through an intravenous tube (which explains why we never see him shirtless.) - K.D.
Funny, some of the senior staff and I were discussing this the other day. It depends what you mean by "slurry"... No, seriously, I very much admire the PM's willpower. As the media have reported, he's lost some weight recently. I know that if I lived at 24 Sussex and had the chef that the Prime Minister has, I would be 730 pounds and would answer only to the name Gigantron.

5 Reasons to vote for Stephen Harper
Stephen Harper’s promise to reduce the GST to 5% makes a lot of sense to me. The GST hits every consumer in Canada – rich, poor, young, or old – right in the pocketbook.
The problem with the GST is that we are just collecting too darned much of it. For a country that has grown accustomed to budget surpluses, it is often easy to forget that these surpluses equal overtaxation.
The amount of money the government collects with the GST has increased by 100% since it was first introduced way back in 1990. I wonder if Canadians have seen an equivalent increase in services. I know that I haven’t. Maybe Stephen is right: if you can’t make a difference after twelve years, it really is time for a change.
In 1993, Paul Martin promised to “kill” the GST. Ha! Such cynicism. And look at him today defending it as a crucial necessity. He really must think we are pretty slow on the uptake.
The bottom line is simple: Stephen Harper is promising to reduce the GST to 5%. If you like the idea, vote Conservative. If you don’t, then you’re welcome to take the other option and vote for four more years of ethical lapses, missing billions, investigation, scandal, and corruption. A or B. Blue or Red. Your call.
Clearly the Grits aren't serious about this campaign. First of all, "Gigantron"? An insult to Transformers everywhere. Second of all, they don't even bother with a list of reasons to vote for Martin! (Granted, there aren't exactly 5 reasons in the Conservative one, but at least they're trying, damnit!) Finally, where's the 'sunshine-or-doom' false dichotomy on the Liberal blog?! Non-existant!
They're pathetic.

Holy shit... between the new Cave-In disc and the 13 Knots album... I'm in fucking audio bliss. It's been a looooong fucking time since I've had any discs that have excited me like these two have.
And I haven't even listened to the new Sunn O))), Akron and Holyfuck discs yet!!! And let's not get started on the Sufjan Stevens, XBXRX, Animal Collective, Earth and Head Wound City records... it'll be a good week or two before I can bring myself to get past the Cave-In and 13 Knots albums...
SERIOUSLY: HOLY SHIT!!!
Also, I gotta mention: I'm almost as stoked about the production as I am the music on these two albums. Cave-In's EP "The Tides Of Tomorrow" has always been a mainstay as the best produced rock album in my opinion. But both the new Cave-In record AND the 13-knots record are every bit equal to the Tides of Tomorrow. Fucking amazing.

Hey Percy -
Remember when we were at Chili's talking about politics and then separatism and then I mentioned those bands from Quebec? Anyways here are some links... worth checking out:
The first one has a video with it! The group is Les Voisins (The Neighbours?):
http://ohcanada.lesvoisins.com/
I guess this one is "Hip hop Québécois"... no video. Apparently this is a song that the PQ/BQ will use for rallies. Kinda catchy I guess. Anyways its called "Libérez-nous des Libéraux" and the group is Loco Locass. (The title is "Liberate us from the Liberals" - I think they are talking about their provincial liberals... for the most part, but I'm pretty sure they think the federal and provincial liberals are pretty crappy)
http://www.locolocass.net/mp3/liberez-nous_des_liberaux_128.mp3
And if anyone else reading this really doesn't care about politics or separatism... I dunno check this out:
