I'm still here. So for those of you who thought this would defeat me, you were so very wrong. I think I might have defeated my ears though. And maybe my colon... The highlight of the night had to be NoFX. They were awesome live. Those guys are funnier in real life than thier music would suggest. Plus, they played whatever we told them to, so it was all good. Right before them Bad religion played. They were pretty incredible too. Not funny, but the music was great. The only really good story though was the lead singer for Coheed and Cambria. He was absolutely tanked on stage. He walked out with about three quarters of a 2-6 of whiskey in his hand and finished of in about 10 minutes. Mostly at the crowds behest. He sounded like absolute shit, fucked up most of his slurred lyrics, and by the end was taunting the crowd to pelt him with bottles. The number of flying objects at the stage was quite the sight to behold. The rest of the band was angry as hell though. Saw the drummer get whacked in the face with a bottle. So, keep an eye on that band as they may not be around to much longer.

I could easily get into a social commentary about the rampant drugs and 14 year old girls pretending to be sluts, but then, I think I've already said enough about that. Or I could get into the destruction of the origional meaning of punk. Most of the people I saw there were merely mindless sheep who went along just so that they could belong to something. I won't rant about that though. The anti-bush was pretty rampant too. And while I agree with what they say, I just see most people there as jumping on the bandwagon. Kinda sad at the end of the day. number of people there, about 15,000. number of sheep, about 10,000. Still an awesome time though.

Eric, those Treewave guys kickass. Did you see they've got a show coming up with Sekiden! FUCK. I wish better shows came to this town. And HEY! WHAT'S THAT I HEAR??? Is that a KARIMBA starting after 40 seconds into the song??? I do believe it is. That sound is unmistakeable. Any band that has a karimba is A-OK in my books!

Yeah, I was planning on going to that show with The Floor, Fake Cops and Radio Berlin. I've missed Radio Berlin twice now and I fully intend to right that wrong. Also, the Fake Cops (they're from Calgary) are really kick ass. Last time I saw them was at the All Purpose Voltage Heros CD release/Wolfnote vs. Mach Tiver show. That was SUCH a good show!!! Hell, didn't APVH play with Radio Berlin down at Listen Records last time they were here? Fuck... I wish I saw that show.

Sweet shit, now I can get drunk, without the drinking! I'll be a "vapoholic"!

Damn, and we make fun of people for inhaling gasoline and paint thinner...

    From Petey:

Also, wanna get drunk quicker and with "less carbs" (Leo)? Well, now there's Alcohol Without Liquid!
  • Use our AWOL Machine with Gin, Brandy, Rum, Vodka or Whiskey and take in no carbs

  • Billed at launch as the “ultimate party toy”, AWOL machines serve bar customers via tubes and could be seen as a modern version of the “Nargile” or “Hookah” water-pipe which originated in India and became an important part of society in Turkey and Middle Eastern countries in the 17th century, eventually becoming the height of fashion at chic Western society parties during the late 19th and early 20th century. Like the Hookah, the AWOL machine has a central body and a number of tubes running from it.

  • Finally, a solution to the two greatest problems today's drinkers have: hangovers and calories. This is the dieters dream. this is the Atkins diet alcohol and diabetes alcohol, low carbohydrates, low calorie and low sugar alcohol.

I agree with paras on that one, combinations work best. I use Spybot-S&D, Ad-Aware Professional and Spyware Blaster, spybot's the quick one that gets most of the adware, and then ad-aware takes care of the more complex and annoying ones that spybot misses, most of the time...

My brother's computer got stuck with some nasty adware variant while I was in vermilion that would always reinstall itself each time ad-aware detected it (for those interested, it used a combination of about 5 registry key changes, 3+ random character executable files and ate alot of system memory... slowed the computer down to a crawl, and Paras laughed at my misery as I tried to fix it) but that's a rarity and doesn't happen that often

Ad-Aware Cloak is an interesting little program that helps if Ad-Aware closes each time it's run, some spyware detect adaware and kill it before it can do any good. MajorGeeks.com is generally a good source for spyware software as well as other things

Generally, I find that Spybot tends to only disable the majority of the spyware, leaving inactive bits and pieces all of the place, but its good for the quick fix and takes care of the more common problems

Well, Alison, get on it! You've been challenged!

Yeah, anyway. I assume you want something free (pay for software? never!) I haven't used spyware cleaners in a while, and when I did, Ad-aware seemed to do a pretty good job, but if you are interested in others, I did find this review on CheapGeek.net: Spyware Cleaner Comparison.

In general, it shouldn't hurt to use more than one, just to cover your bases. Of course, updates are extremely important and, in some cases, reinstalling may be necessary, as they have begun to actually uninstall anti-spyware tools.

Also useful (and free!) is Spyware Blaster, the proactive approach. This tool prevents the installation of malicious software. Of course, none of these tools are perfect, but they should get the job done pretty well, particularly in concert.
