From Goldberg's list, I can't say I'm surprised he has Noam Chomsky at number 11 -- though, admittedly, I think that's bullshit.

The rationale?
11. Noam Chomsky (MIT professor of linguistics): While he is the most-cited living author, or the "most important intellectual" according to the New York Times, Chomsky hates America. He describes the Cold War as the United States's continuation of the Nazi agenda, and he frequently points to more extreme cases of terrorism done by the US than what happened on 9/11. Chomsky is the epitome of the anti-American intellectual.

I know little about his statement regarding the Cold War and the Nazi agenda, so I can't really comment on that -- but, yes, without any context, it does sound ridiculous. But, when it comes to him pointing out "more [Xtreme] cases of terrorism done by the US"... are we supposed to just ignore those atrocities?

The lesson? Hypocrisy is bad; pointing out hypocrisy is worse.

Well, it was at a conference and, though the conference didn't seem to have a published book of proceedings, it is on their website. I believe that's the standard of 'published' in the computing science community.

Besides, it saves me having to write more, and it forces encourages people to explore more of my illustrious (I believe this report makes three works, or four if you count the one on which I'm the third author) research publication career.

I don't know anything about technical reports, but I know it's acceptable to reference yourself in philosophy and in literature/english - provided that the paper you are referencing is a published piece.

Hmm... I wonder if it's appropriate to reference your own paper in a technical report.

Of course, by the Kent Hovind school of logic, it makes everything I have written in both papers unassailably true.

All right, Denmark, you want to play tough?

We've got Hans Island surrounded by nuclear weapons, ready to blow your sailors to kingdom come...

Would you believe an Aircraft Carrier and several tugboats?

Would you believe two warships and rifle?

How about a boy scout with a pen knife?

Nice to know Diego's keeping up that 'not-a-douchebag' reputation of football's star players...

Remember Bernard Goldberg's book, 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America? If not, here's a refresher of the list, including some key reasons he thinks these people are screwing up America.

Well, #77 on his list, Linda Hirshman, is devoting 100 days to "Free the Goldberg 100" on this blogger site. She's up to #8 today.
